Job description

If you are an expert in quality control and test automation with a passion for excellence in software testing, our client is looking for you. A leader in the insurance industry, our client is seeking a Senior Manager to lead their testing team.

In this pivotal role, you will develop and implement strategies that ensure top-notch quality control and efficient test automation. You'll bring your deep knowledge of project management, software, and agile methodologies to the forefront, crafting strategies, managing budgets, and conducting thorough analyses. Your responsibilities will include enhancing Business Acceptance Testing through functional automation tools, drafting and approving technical documentation, and leading a team of skilled professionals.

You’ll be at the helm of creating detailed test plans, overseeing defect management processes, and keeping stakeholders informed on project status. Your technical oversight will ensure that all testing processes are executed with precision, guaranteeing the highest quality of tools and applications for seamless automation.

Duties:

  • Create test plans and schedules aligned with the overall project plan.
  • Prioritise, allocate, and execute tasks based on the project plan.
  • Organise and conduct weekly team meetings focused on targets and prioritising outstanding tasks.
  • Prioritise testing efforts based on risk assessment.
  • Provide analytical support for defect resolution.
  • Review and contribute to system design documents (functional, technical, non-functional requirements).
  • Take ownership of queries, offering solutions to stakeholders for issue resolution.
  • Provide feedback to Senior Management and Project Managers as required.
  • Manage team performance and efficiency using KPIs and standards.
  • Identify testing risks and provide solutions to mitigate them.
  • Report test status at both detailed and management levels.
  • Manage test scope and delivery for medium to large projects or work streams.
  • Manage a medium-sized, possibly multi-site, test team.
  • Define and implement the overall test approach.
  • Produce the overall test delivery plan, including milestones, tasks, and activities, and determine the use of automation tools.
  • Manage a large testing capability, resources, and processes from project initiation to post-implementation review.
  • Identify slippage and develop strategies for recovery, resolving issues related to the technical solution in the business test environment.
  • Ensure all test phases meet entry/exit criteria and obtain sign-off prior to Go Live.

Job Experience & Skills Required:

Qualifications:

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems / Technology / Computer Science
  • Test Management certification or Automation Testing certifications

Experience:

  • 10+ years of IT experience, including at least 3 years in the capacity of Test Manager / Lead for a test team of at least 5 FTEs
  • At least 8 years of experience in manual and automated software testing
  • Experience of having designed and implemented test frameworks on large scale programmes and enhancing existing test processes
  • Strong experience on driving test strategy, detailed test plan, test cases design, test data management and full-cycle execution management
  • Solid track record of designing and analysing formal test metrics
