Job description

  • The Senior Manager testing is responsible for developing and executing strategies to ensure effective quality control and test automation. The incumbent will have an in-depth understanding of project management, software engineering and agile principles, as demonstrated by experience with creating strategies, budgets and analyses. The role will include utilizing functional automation tools to extend capability of Business Acceptance Test, preparing and approving standard operating procedures, protocols and other technical documentation, supervising, managing, supporting and evaluating personnel, development of detailed test plans, and defining and executing on defect management processes, monitoring and communicating the test project status. The test manager oversees the technical controls of the test processes and measures the quality of tools and applications for optimal automation

POSITION INFO :

Key Responsibilities :

  • Creation of test plan and test schedule that are aligned with the overall project plan
  • Prioritise, allocate and execute tasks based on project plan
  • Organising and conducting weekly team meetings with the focus on targets achieved and prioritising outstanding tasks
  • Work closely with the project team to ensure that the project deliverables are met
  • All testing efforts are appropriately prioritised based on the risk assessment
  • Provide analytical support in the resolution of defects
  • Reviewing and contribute towards system design documents such as functional requirements, technical requirements, non-functional requirements
  • Take ownership of queries and offer possible solutions to the various stakeholders to ensure the resolution of the issue
  • Provide feedback to Senior management and Project managers where relevant and required.
  • Performance Management : Manage the performance and efficiency of the team using KPI’s, and standards.
  • Identifies testing risks both within and across projects and provides testing solutions / processes to mitigate the risks
  • Test status reporting at both the detailed and management information level
  • Manage the test scope and delivery for medium to large sized projects and / or portfolios or work streams of large programmes
  • Manage a medium-sized test team which may be multi-site
  • Define and implement the overall test approach
  • Apply different estimating methods to estimate timescales, effort and costs for the testing phases
  • Responsible for producing the overall test delivery plan and defining the business test deliverable milestones, test tasks and activities whilst determining whether automation tools can be utilised
  • Manage a large testing capability, resources and testing process from project initiation to post implementation review and extended wellness
  • Identify slippage and develop strategies to recover and will own and resolve issues around the technical solution delivered into the business test environment
  • Ensure that all test phases have appropriate entry / exit criteria and for monitoring achievement of these criteria and for obtaining sign-off against these prior to Go Live
  • Implement a well-structured approach to test defect management and incident reporting
  • Monitor and report the status and progress of each test phase to different stakeholders and to agreed CMT standards

Required Knowledge, Experience and Skills :

  • 10+ years of IT experience, including at least 3 years in the capacity of Test Manager / Lead for a test team of at least 5 FTEs
  • At least 8 years of experience in manual and automated software testing
  • Experience of having designed and implemented test frameworks on large s cale programmes and enhancing existing test processes
  • Strong experience on driving test strategy, detailed test plan, test cases design, test data management and full-cycle execution management Solid track record of designing and analysing formal test metrics
  • Engagement with stakeholders at all levels

Educational Requirements :

  • Degree in Information Systems / Technology / Computer Science, or equivalent qualification
  • Test Management certification or Automation Testing certifications
