Job Summary

To support the Head of Enterprise Stress Testing and Scenario Planning by managing the group’s scenario and stress testing outcomes through:

  • Data, processes, execution of stress tests, and contributions to scenarios for recovery planning, resolution planning, and ICAAP.
  • Developing and executing best practice processes and tools to enhance stress testing capabilities and assess vulnerabilities, focusing on valuation capabilities for resolution requirements.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Providing leadership and advice on data infrastructure, impairments, regulatory, financial, and risk metrics, and buffer setting.
  • Ensuring quality forecasts across portfolios to support business needs.
  • Reporting to stakeholders, including disclosures in Pillar 3 and ICAAP.

Job Description

Accountability: Data architecture, Stress Testing Strategy, Framework, and Execution

  • Stay updated on developments in scenario development, stress testing, and resolution valuations, especially regulatory changes.
  • Maintain the stress testing framework.
  • Manage data strategies, frameworks, governance, and execution with proper oversight.
  • Embed stress testing functions across all business units and risk types.
  • Develop and improve strategies and frameworks to meet business needs using best practices.
  • Report breaches to senior management and governing bodies.
  • Manage audit requirements related to data and process integrity.
  • Ensure stakeholder queries are handled efficiently.
  • Maintain stress testing data architecture aligned with BCBS 239 and 450 principles.

Accountability: Scenario and Stress – Development, Execution, and Reporting

  • Source macro-economic variables for planning, IFRS 9, recovery, and resolution activities.
  • Coordinate with economists to ensure scenario relevance and robustness.
  • Guide stakeholders in completing scenarios and regulatory stresses, ensuring governance compliance.
  • Assess impacts on risk types, capital, and liquidity, and determine necessary buffers.
  • Contribute to disclosures, ICAAP, ILAAP, and resolution plans, focusing on resolution valuation capabilities.

Accountability: Stakeholder and Relationship Management and Leadership

  • Build strong relationships internally and externally across Africa.
  • Support stakeholders in regulatory stress testing requirements.
  • Communicate developments in scenario planning, stress testing, and resolution valuations.
  • Lead pan-Africa working groups on stress testing execution.
  • Manage suppliers to ensure performance standards are met.

Bachelor’s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas in Business, Commerce, and Management Studies (Required)
