MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To develop a strategy and manage the supply chain for pharmaceutical products and medical devices through pharmacies in the hospitals, as to ensure a sustainable supply of product to treat patients; to maximise on best practice procurement principles and facilitate key relationships with suppliers through a central communication base and ethical procurement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
  • Ensure Group procurement is in line with budget, statutory requirements, and ethical buying principles
  • Ensure that new products and technology are in line with the budget, quality and clinical needs of Mediclinic
  • Provide input to Product Price Master and ensure supplier and products are compliant
  • Analyse trends, comparative figures, and price increases in order to make informed procurement management decisions
  • Manage and mitigate departmental risks
  • Ensure tenders are managed in line with organisational policies and procedures in order to maximise their benefit for the Group
  • Manage key account and stakeholder relations
  • Lead and manage the people in the team

  • Hospital experience as a Pharmacist/ Pharmacy Manager
  • Business processes exposure
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Relevant medical equipment and the requirements for consumables linked to that equipment in the Healthcare environment
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Medication and medical devices used in a private hospital environment
  • Relevant Acts, Regulations within the SA environment relating to medicine, medical devices, and related items
  • Analysis of data and cost models forecasting, spend analysis and continuous improvement
