Senior Manager, IT Infrastructure and Operations
Allied Gold is a Canadian-based gold producer with a significant growth profile and mineral endowment, operating a portfolio of three producing assets and other development projects in Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, and Ethiopia.
Led by experienced mining executives, Allied Gold aims to become a mid-tier next-generation gold producer in Africa and a leading global gold producer. The Senior Manager, IT Infrastructure and Operations, plays a critical leadership role responsible for the management, stability, and security of the organization's IT infrastructure and operations.
This role ensures the reliable and efficient delivery of IT and communication services, supports business operations, and drives continuous improvement in infrastructure performance and cost-effectiveness. The position involves leading a team of IT professionals and collaborating with IT and business stakeholders to align IT infrastructure with organizational goals.
Position Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, data centers, cloud services, and end-user computing.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of IT systems through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and incident management.
- Manage incident and service request delivery, vendor relationships, standards, software, technology roadmaps, infrastructure, and vendor selection.
- Coordinate with site operations to ensure reliable IT infrastructure and seamless service delivery across the company.
- Develop and implement IT infrastructure policies, procedures, and standards for security, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Manage IT infrastructure projects, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and execution.
- Collaborate with other IT teams (security, applications) for seamless integration and support.
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts for IT infrastructure products and services.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Monitor and analyze IT infrastructure performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Stay current with emerging IT infrastructure technologies and trends, recommending innovative solutions.
- Manage and optimize Microsoft infrastructure, including Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and other services.
- Develop strategies for Microsoft infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and consolidations.
- Manage Microsoft licensing and ensure compliance.
- Oversee the IT infrastructure budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the IT Infrastructure and Operations team.
- Travel to Allied Gold's operations and offices as needed.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure and operations management, with at least three years in a leadership role.
- Mining industry experience is an asset.
- Strong technical knowledge of IT components, including servers, networks, storage, virtualization, cloud services, and cybersecurity.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project management experience, including managing IT infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts.
- Desired skills include experience with Microsoft Azure, automation tools, and relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, Azure Solutions Architect, CompTIA, Cisco).
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Fluency in verbal and written French is preferred.
