To develop a framework that provides financial analysis, support, and guidance to designated areas of the business, aiming to improve the accuracy of financial data and systems. The role also involves supporting and monitoring business performance, generating in-depth analysis, insights, and challenges to support the Consumer Business Unit (CBU).
Strategic Input
- Provide input into the strategy for the Commercial Finance function in the Consumer Business (Product and Channels)
- Align all operational activities in the department with the BRIGHT strategy objectives
- Drive best practices, iterative improvements, and innovation at a strategic deployment level
Decision Making and Business Case Management
- Track product/channel performance by developing financial models
- Develop business cases and models to provide scenarios for the General Manager and Executives
- Establish measurable performance parameters and standardized sources for success evaluation
- Analyze, monitor, challenge, and advise on investment and CAPEX items against risks and returns
- Ensure consistency and expertise in all business case and financial modeling
- Identify opportunities for business improvement and process optimization
- Ensure compliance of activities, models, and business cases with governance protocols and policies
- Conduct post-implementation analysis to identify patterns and learning points
Business Finance
- Support the development of financial data for business cases
- Provide ongoing support on commercial, business, and risk issues, offering guidance for solutions
- Ensure adherence to CAPEX governance and customer tender processes
- Provide insights and recommendations to enhance revenue performance
- Maintain effective cost efficiency plans to reduce costs
- Alert management to material deviations and suggest interventions
Acquisition and Retention
- Contribute to product pricing, tariffs, and policy decisions
- Analyze pricing points and purchasing patterns for profitability
- Report and analyze product/channel performance
Finance Performance Analysis and Management
- Develop performance measures and KPIs across business levels
- Analyze product/channel efficiency for management decisions
- Create P&L statements for each channel
- Oversee forecasting, planning, and reporting for channels
- Conduct deep dive performance analyses and challenge outcomes to improve results
Governance
Tactical Meetings
- Participate in and lead agendas for tactical meetings
- Report and engage with the Executive team
- Participate in cross-functional tactical meetings
Escalations
- Provide input and escalate serious issues, ensuring alignment with business strategy
- Contribute to solution generation for resolution of issues
Reporting
- Review and submit reports to the General Manager on activity, budget, and results
- Prepare operational and project-specific reports as needed
Risk Identification
- Support risk reduction recommendations
- Review risk management effectiveness and suggest improvements
- Analyze contracts for potential risks and escalate as needed
- Generate management reports with analysis and recommendations
Education
- Minimum of a 4-year tertiary degree or CA qualification
- MBA or Master’s degree is advantageous
Experience
- At least 7 years in Finance and Commercial functions
- Experience in medium to large organizations
- Planning, Reporting, and Performance Management experience
- Management experience is required
