- Challenge is to achieve an effective balance between supporting LMP activities (upstream) and sales activities (downstream) as both are vital to ensure business continuity.
- Other internal and external constraints include evolving TotalEnergies safety requirements regarding raw materials, an uncertain SA regulatory environment, and a non-technical support base with high turnover.
Activities
Strategy
- Continuously update and manage the lubricants product range and services to meet local and regional market demands, based on the TMSA roadmap and changing market conditions.
- Attend conferences and exhibitions, including relevant SAIT events, to stay abreast of technical developments.
- Plan for future product needs in advance, considering local production and importation.
- Manage the product lifecycle within the lubricants technical team via the UMDS process, including trial blends, labeling, code creation, implementation, SDS, closures, and rationalization.
- Ensure routine monitoring of downstream quality and advise on deviations and corrective actions.
- Support digitalization of lubricants technical processes using Microsoft Office 365 with local IT support.
Lubricant Sales
- Deliver the lubricants roadmap, including product range modifications and implementation.
- Assist sales teams in launching new products and services to maintain competitiveness.
- Strive to reduce product costs to enhance market competitiveness.
- Ensure technical services related to lubricants are delivered professionally, accurately, and timely, including product recommendations, site audits, oil analysis, technical support, product launches, and training.
- Extend these services to all TotalEnergies employees, customers, and prospects, focusing on sales staff, call center, marketing, and LMP.
- Help sales teams understand customer needs and educate them on product ranges and applications.
- Communicate product changes effectively.
HSSE
Manage and minimize HSE risks by ensuring:
- Compliance with all HSE policies, rules, regulations, and legal requirements.
- Promotion of a safe working environment and contribution to HSE KPIs and risk reduction strategies.
- Identification and enforcement of HSE competency requirements within the area of responsibility.
- Adherence to company HSEQ and security standards, including Golden Rule and Near Miss reporting, to minimize risks to assets and personnel.
- Raw materials are used within safety guidelines.
- Monitoring and reporting SDS requirements to global and regional SDS teams.
- Ensuring products meet specifications and updating them as necessary.
- Overseeing customer complaints and resolving disputes professionally and promptly, following TEMSA rules.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred (BEng, BSc, or equivalent).
- 3-5 years of experience in a technical role within the lubricants industry.
- Some sales experience is advantageous.
- Experience in applications, complaints, product development, and oil analysis.
- Excellent knowledge of products and their applications.
- Strong understanding of TMSA and competitor products.
