You will use advanced analytics to forecast demand, optimize warehousing and transportation, and mentor junior staff. You will collaborate with operations, procurement and sales while managing 3PL relationships and negotiating

Qualifications

• Master's degree in SCM, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, MBA or related field.
• 10+ years in logistics planning, network design and optimization.
• Proven track record of cost savings and efficiency gains.
• Experience using logistics planning software and analytics tools.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Logistics Planner to lead network optimization initiatives from their prominent location in Sandton, Gauteng . This pivotal role demands a sophisticated understanding of supply chain dynamics, transportation management, and warehousing strategies. The Senior Planner will be responsible for analyzing complex logistics networks, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements, and implementing innovative solutions. This is a key leadership position for an individual passionate about driving impactful change within a large-scale logistics operation. You will leverage data analytics and strategic foresight to shape the future of our distribution network.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze current logistics networks to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop and implement strategic plans for network optimization, including warehouse location strategy, transportation mode selection, and inventory positioning.
• Utilize advanced analytical tools and modeling techniques to forecast demand and optimize resource allocation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and sales, to ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and carriers, negotiating contracts and performance metrics.
• Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of logistics operations and network performance.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting logistics and supply chain management.
• Lead projects focused on improving service levels, reducing lead times, and enhancing overall supply chain resilience.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management, outlining findings, recommendations, and project progress.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior logistics planning staff in Sandton, Gauteng .

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in logistics planning, network design, and supply chain optimization.
• Proven track record of successfully implementing logistics strategies that resulted in significant cost savings and efficiency gains.
• Expertise in using advanced logistics planning software, simulation tools, and data analytics platforms.
• Strong understanding of transportation modes, warehousing operations, and inventory management principles.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and solve complex problems in a dynamic environment.
• Experience in managing complex, multi-site logistics networks.
• Must be able to work from our Sandton, Gauteng office and travel occasional as required.
