Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a senior Logistics & Distribution Manager for a major national retailer's Vereeniging facility. You will lead end-to-end logistics, including warehousing, transportation, and inventory control, while driving efficiency and cost reductions.

You will manage a large team, implement lean initiatives, and optimize WMS/ERP systems to meet service levels and safety requirements. Strong leadership and a proven track record are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in logistics and distribution management.
• Experience managing large-scale warehouse and transportation operations.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of supply chain principles, inventory management, and transportation logistics.
• Proficiency with WMS/ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the logistics and distribution operations for the Vereeniging facility.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage and optimize inventory levels to meet service level agreements while minimizing holding costs.
• Lead, train, and develop a diverse team of logistics and warehouse professionals.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Manage relationships with external transport providers and negotiate contracts.
• Implement and monitor KPIs to track operational performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles and other methodologies.
• Manage the operational budget, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
• Oversee the implementation and utilization of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other relevant technologies.
