SUMMARY :

Senior Litigation Attorney Position : Senior Litigation Attorney

Area : Randburg

Experience : 8+ years post-admission experience

Key Responsibilities & Competencies

• Case Management :

Full litigation lifecycle – client consultations, pleadings, discovery, pre-trial, trial, settlements, enforcement of judgments.

Court Appearances :

High Court (preferred, not essential), Magistrates' Court, Labour Court, and tribunals. Handles opposed applications, urgent matters, interlocutory and motion proceedings.

Drafting & Legal Writing :

Skilled in drafting complex legal documents : summonses, particulars of claim, affidavits, heads of argument, notices of motion, settlement agreements, and legal opinions.

Client Advisory :

Provides strategic litigation advice and risk assessments to corporate and individual clients. Maintains strong client relationships.

Commercial Litigation :

Experienced in contract disputes, shareholder / director matters, insolvency, liquidations, business rescue, interdicts, and compliance.

Civil Litigation :

Manages evictions, debt collection, delictual claims, and enforcement of contractual rights.

Alternative Dispute Resolution :

Represents clients in arbitration and mediation when applicable.

Team Leadership :

Supervises and mentors junior attorneys and candidate attorneys; reviews legal work and provides guidance on strategy and procedure.

Legal Research :

Conducts and oversees in-depth research to support litigation and argument development.

Billing & File Management :

Maintains accurate time records, ensures file progression, diary management, and meets billing targets.

Compliance & Ethics :

Adheres to Legal Practice Council regulations, ethical obligations, and internal firm policies.
