About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on all matters related to the energy and resources sector, including exploration, production, and infrastructure development.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, joint venture agreements, and financing documents specific to the energy industry.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, safety, and energy regulations.
• Manage and advise on regulatory approvals and licensing processes.
• Conduct legal due diligence for potential acquisitions, divestitures, and investments.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 10 years' post-qualification experience.
• Specialized experience in energy and resources law, including significant transaction and regulatory advisory work.
• Proven track record in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements within the energy sector.
• Strong understanding of South African energy legislation, environmental law, and project finance.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to advise senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects independently in a remote setting.
• Experience with international energy projects is an advantage.
