Qualifications

Job description

Degree in Law : LLB, BProc or B Juris Degree
Intermediate computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Experience with contract management systems

Job Related Requirements

  1. 5+ years of post-qualification relevant experience in a senior position
  2. Holistic knowledge of law, including Contract, Corporate, Civil, and Interpretation of statutes
  3. Admission as an Attorney
  4. Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements and contracts, both locally and internationally
  5. Technical knowledge of legal structures and agreements within the logistics industry
  6. Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex legal concepts
  7. Knowledge and experience of privacy laws and regulations, with the ability to train key stakeholders
  8. Proven history of interaction with external legal counsel in collections and other legal matters
  9. Excellent fluency in English and exposure to business processes
  10. Leadership skills
  11. Problem-solving skills
  12. Excellent communication skills (verbal and non-verbal)
  13. Ability to self-manage and effectively communicate with stakeholders
  14. Proven track record of engaging with people at all organizational levels

Main purpose of the role

To partner with the business by providing seamless, value-added legal support to DSV. This includes delivering legal advice to management and the business on a wide range of commercial and corporate law matters, working with external advisors, and negotiating / drafting commercial contracts, including specialized transactional agreements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft, vet, and review various corporate legal contracts
  • Stay updated on new or amended legislation and inform the business of risks and implications
  • Protect the company's interests, manage risks, and ensure compliance with governance, guidelines, and procedures
  • Negotiate on behalf of the business to achieve value
  • Negotiate with third parties to establish appropriate contractual relationships and minimize risks
  • Identify matters requiring specialized legal input and liaise with external counsel accordingly
  • Coordinate litigation matters with external attorneys and interpret their recommendations
  • Draft legal opinions
  • Conduct legal research on significant legal issues
  • Respond promptly and comprehensively to assigned tasks
  • Execute projects and daily tasks efficiently
  • Focus on performance and meeting deadlines
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders
