Job Location: North West, Potchefstroom

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
  • Teaching and developing Understanding the World modules, and philosophy modules in various Philosophy traditions (e.g., Continental and African).
  • Conducting tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, online teaching, and other teaching sessions.
  • Initiating and developing subject material.
Research
  • Conduct research and publish articles in peer-reviewed, accredited academic journals.
  • Present conference papers.
  • Supervise postgraduate students.
  • Be actively involved in the Institute for Contemporary Ethics.
Community Engagement
  • Participate in professional associations.
  • Engage in community projects of the School of Philosophy, the Faculty, and NWU.
Administration and Leadership
  • Undertake academic administration at Programme & Module level, as well as at School, Faculty, and Institutional levels.
  • Consult with students.
Minimum Requirements
  • A PhD (NQF level 10) in Philosophy or a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of teaching experience in Philosophy.
  • Experience supervising Master's or PhD students.
  • Evidence of at least two (2) accredited research outputs.
