The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) invites applications for a Senior Lecturer in ICT within the School of Computing and Mathematical Science. The position calls for strategic leadership, advanced teaching, and a strong research profile.

The successful candidate will supervise postgraduate students, contribute to scholarly outputs, and engage with the wider community to apply knowledge in ICT. A Doctoral qualification and extensive university teaching experience are essential.

Formación

• PhD in ICT or Computer Science is required.
• 8 years teaching experience at university level.
• Strong record of research outputs in national and international journals.
• Proven postgraduate supervision experience with Masters/Doctoral students.
• Active participation in learned societies.
• Engagement with external community through disciplinary knowledge.
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills.

Job Primary Purpose

To enhance the attainment of the stractegic objectives

Key Performance Areas:

• The provision of strategic leadership at the level of School and Qualification.
• Provision of theoretically informed and pedagogically sound teaching.
• Research and the production of accredited research outputs.
• Postgraduate supervision and the graduation of Masters’ and Doctoral students in the minimum time.
• Engagement, through which knowledge and skills are used to benefit the discipline/ profession and the community.
  
• Doctoral qualification in ICT or Computer Science.
• 8 years teaching experienceat auniversity level.
• A strong record of research outputs including papers in accredited national and International journals and presentations at national and international conferences.
• A good record of postgraduate supervision at Masters’ level with some of these students publishing their research.
• Participation in learned societies.
• Some application of disciplinary/ professional knowledge and skills to the benefit of the external community.

Disciple knowledge

In-depth knowledge of the theory and application of the discipline.

Good understanding of principles of leadership and management with well-developed leadership and
management skills.

Teaching & Learning

Sound understanding of modern theories of teaching and learning in Higher Education and welldeveloped
teaching skills.
