Placements24 is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to oversee the design and development of next‑generation heavy machinery in George, Western Cape. You will mentor engineers, drive best practices, and ensure robust mechanical performance across the product line.

The role requires a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, 10+ years in design with 3+ years in leadership, and expertise in SolidWorks, ANSYS, and ABAQUS.

Competenze

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 10 years in mechanical design engineering with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAE software such as SolidWorks, ANSYS and ABAQUS.
• Experience in structural analysis, material selection for harsh environments, and fatigue life prediction.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, power transmission and control mechanisms.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate engineering teams and manage projects.

Mansioni

• Direct and manage the mechanical engineering design process for heavy machinery from concept to production.
• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers with performance reviews and development.
• Develop detailed mechanical designs using CAD software, ensuring safety and performance specs.
• Perform FEA/CFD and other analyses to optimize design durability and reliability.
