Placements24 in Rustenburg, North West, South Africa, seeks Lead Pharmaceutical Formulations Scientist to spearhead our client's formulation development team. The role covers design, development, and optimization of drug delivery systems for diverse products, from early-stage to manufacturing scale-up.

The ideal candidate has a PhD or Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences or closely related field, at least 7 years in formulation development, and strong leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Experience with various dosage forms (e.g., tablets, capsules, parenteral, topical).
• Proven experience in leading R&D projects and managing scientific teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of new drug formulations, including solid dosage forms, injectables, and topical preparations.
• Oversee experimental design and execution for formulation studies, stability testing, and scale-up activities.
• Mentor and guide a team of formulation scientists and technicians, fostering their professional growth.
• Collaborate with analytical development, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs departments to ensure seamless project progression.
• Evaluate new excipients, drug delivery technologies, and manufacturing processes.
• Troubleshoot formulation and process-related issues encountered during development and manufacturing.
• Prepare comprehensive formulation development reports, regulatory submission documents, and intellectual property disclosures.
• Ensure all formulation activities comply with cGMP guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements.
