Job Description

PURPOSE AND ROLE IN THE BUSINESS:

Responsible for taking samples from the plant and processing the samples at the Laboratory safely. The role is also responsible for the safety of the team as well as their own safety around the work environment.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Process plant sampling and sample processing and reporting of results to the Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Makes recommendations on improvements on sampling and sample processing to the Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Operates and maintains Laboratory equipment to achieve quality results as per the schedule.
  • Perform physical inspection of the plant & Lab and informs Laboratory Supervisor of any deviations and corrective action taken including job cards issued for engineering related problems.
  • Assist in equipment maintenance as required.
  • Conducts risk assessments in areas of responsibility.
  • Complies with safety standards and regulations.
  • Perform regular laboratory equipment checks to ensure that all equipment is in working order, set up correctly and performs in accordance with functional standards.
  • Ensures effective application of procedures to manage activities within the Freight Section aimed at minimizing loss through theft resulting from access of personnel, vehicles and equipment to the mine via the facility after normal business hours.
  • Attend relevant training and events as scheduled to ensure improved support, applications of new or changed systems, processes, etc. and pays particular attention to ensuring own personal development.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12/N3 or relevant NQF level 4 qualification.
  • Valid EB/Code 08 Driver License.
  • Laboratory modules would be advantageous.
  • Plant operation/Lab work experience would be advantageous.
  • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness Certificate)
  • Your consideration for employment is subject to your SAPS Criminal Record verification and qualification.
