Job summary

Ovations Talent Sourcing is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Kafka Platform Specialist to own reliability, security, performance and automation for a production event-streaming environment in Johannesburg. The role is hybrid with 3 days in the office under a 12-month independent contract.

You will operate and support Kafka platforms, plan upgrades, design secure architectures, and automate with DevOps/IaC while collaborating with application teams to onboard workloads and raise platform

Qualifications

• 6+ years in systems/platform engineering.
• Hands-on Kafka administration experience is essential.
• Strong scripting and automation skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and support production Kafka platforms, including monitoring and incident response.
• Plan and execute Kafka upgrades and lifecycle activities.
