Job summary

Positron SE is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with deep Kafka platform expertise to own the reliability, security, and automation of our event-streaming environment in Sandton.

You will operate and scale production Kafka platforms, implement upgrades and lifecycle activities, and design scalable, secure architectures. Strong Linux, Azure cloud experience, and IaC/DevOps tooling are essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Systems/Platform Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Operate and support production Kafka platforms, including monitoring, incident response, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Plan and execute upgrades, patching, and platform lifecycle activities.
• Design scalable, resilient, and secure Kafka architecture.
• Automate infrastructure and operational workflows using DevOps and IaC practices.
• Partner with application teams to onboard workloads and improve platform standards.
