Job summary

DeARX is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join a leading financial services technology environment in Sandton on a 12-month contract. You will work on enterprise-scale, high-volume applications across the full SDLC, from design and development to testing, deployment, optimisation and production support.

The role offers hands-on work with modern Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Cloud, Kubernetes and DevOps technologies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' professional software development experience.
• Hands-on Java, Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Solid experience with JPA and Hibernate; Micronaut a plus.
• Strong OOD and software engineering principles.
• Experience building Microservices/SOA-based solutions.
• Strong API and integration across REST and SOAP.
• Security experience including JWT/SSL/TLS.
• Relational SQL DB2 and NoSQL exposure (MongoDB/Cassandra).
• Docker and Kubernetes; Azure or AWS experience.
• CI/CD, DevOps and deployment automation.
• Git, Maven and SonarQube familiarity.
• Enterprise production environments experience.
• Performance monitoring, troubleshooting and optimization.
• High-volume systems: scalability, clustering, concurrency.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and support Java applications.
• Build and enhance Spring Boot, Spring, JPA and Hibernate solutions.
• Work within Microservices and SOA architectures and develop APIs.
• Own deliverables from design through deployment and production support.
• Develop integrations using REST, SOAP, JSON, XML and messaging tech.
• Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps pipelines.
• Perform unit testing, code reviews, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
• Work with cloud and containerised environments including Azure/AWS, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Delivery Leads and SMEs.
• Support ongoing maintenance and improvement of enterprise applications.
