Placements24 client, a reputable financial services technology provider, is seeking a senior Software Engineer in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. The role offers a hybrid work model with in-office and remote collaboration, and a focus on designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise Java applications for the financial sector.

You will work with architects and product managers, implement APIs, ensure performance and security, mentor junior engineers, and stay current with industry trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional software development experience.
• Extensive Java development with Spring Boot and Hibernate.
• Strong OO design principles and design patterns.
• Relational databases experience (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and SQL.
• Experience with microservices and modern API development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy robust and scalable enterprise applications using Java.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, and engineers to define software requirements and designs.
• Develop and maintain APIs and services that integrate with various systems.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software defects.
