Job summary

PayTech Nexus Ltd. is seeking a hands-on Senior Java Developer to join the Digital Payments squad in Johannesburg.

You will design, develop, and support enterprise-grade Java services within high-volume payment environments, leveraging Spring Boot, microservices, and event-driven integration. You will build cloud-ready, containerised services, implement CI/CD, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable payment solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on Java enterprise development.
• Strong Spring Boot experience beyond annotations (JPA, DI, component scanning).
• 4+ years with enterprise services.
• Experience with microservices and inter-service communication.
• Knowledge of service discovery, Kafka, and queues.
• Event-driven architecture and service integration.
• 3+ years containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift).
• Exposure to cloud technologies.
• SDLC experience across requirements, development, and support.

Responsibilities

• Deliver enterprise Java services across full SDLC including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Design and build Spring Boot microservices with robust OO design.
• Develop synchronous and asynchronous services using APIs, service discovery, Kafka, and queues.
• Contribute to solution design translating business needs into scalable implementations.
• Build cloud-ready, containerised services and deploy on Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
• Apply event-driven principles to high-volume transaction processing.
• Contribute to DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and production support.
• Participate in capacity planning, technical debt management and design discussions.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, engineering, operations, risk, and other stakeholders.
• Produce clear technical documentation and keep coding standards.
