Job summary

Amidel is seeking an experienced Intermediate/Senior Java Developer to join our consulting team in Johannesburg. The role focuses on building backend services using Spring Boot or Quarkus for high-performance, scalable enterprise applications within a financial-technology context.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Java development experience, 2+ years in DevOps and integration, and a solid understanding of CI/CD, containers, and cloud platforms. Hybrid work arrangement offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years Java development experience (Spring Boot or Quarkus).
• 3+ years in enterprise IT projects.
• 2+ years DevOps & integration exposure.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
• Advantageous: AWS Certification or relevant DevOps Certification.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services using Java (Spring Boot or Quarkus).
• Create efficient, scalable, well-documented code for enterprise applications.
• Support full development lifecycle from analysis to deployment.
• Apply SOLID and design patterns for robust solutions.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and deploy into containerized environments (Kubernetes).
• Integrate with external systems via REST, SOAP, MQ, Kafka, or file-based mechanisms.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and observability with Grafana, New Relic, ELK, Splunk.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and cross-functional planning.
• Support DevOps and Infrastructure teams in deployment and support activities.
• Document code, architecture, and solution design per governance.
