Job description

Senior IT Operations Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Design, administer, and maintain the company's IT infrastructure.
  • Create and implement policies, procedures, and standards for IT operations and services.
  • Keep up to date with rapid technological changes.
  • Support the administration of wide area and local networks.
  • Provide technical 2nd and 3rd level support to end users.
  • Implement, maintain, and administer backup and disaster recovery systems and processes.
  • Document and report on systems, including design, SOPs, root causes of faults, and other IT reports as required by management.
  • Mentor colleagues and peers in the IT space.
  • Serve as the standby and after-hours escalation point for support issues.
  • Ensure compliance with financial services legislation.

Experience in the following technologies and concepts:

  • HP Synergy / Server Blade Infrastructure
  • Storage Technologies, preferably HPE and Fibre Channel
  • Hyper-V and Hyper-V Clusters
  • Failover Clusters for MS SQL Server
  • LAN/WAN/VPN Technology
  • Microsoft AD / Azure AD / DNS
  • Remote Desktop Services
  • Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online
  • DNS and Certificate Management
  • IP Telephony
  • VEEAM Backup and Recovery
  • Operating Systems: Microsoft and Linux
  • In-depth understanding of TCP/IP and internetworking with heterogeneous technologies
  • Perimeter Security
  • Progression and capacity planning
  • Technical documentation

Skillset:

  • Grade 12, plus relevant diploma/degree
  • Office 365 administration
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting an IT technical environment
  • Application support experience (Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, System Administration)
  • Broad knowledge of software and hardware related to servers, networks, PCs, and peripherals
  • Detailed knowledge of activities related to Microsoft System Support
  • Windows and Linux Operating System Administration
  • Networking fundamentals and administration
  • Technical documentation and authoring
  • Knowledge of Systems Architecture
  • ITIL certification - advantageous
  • Azure technologies - advantageous
  • Microsoft SQL Databases Administration - advantageous
