Job summary

SA Metal Group (Pty) Ltd is seeking a highly experienced Senior IT Professional to own complex technical challenges across network, server, and end-user environments. The role requires a deep hands-on background and collaborative work style, with permanent problem resolution through root cause analysis.

The successful candidate will manage Windows Server environments, Hyper-V virtualization, firewall and network infrastructure, and security across sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of IT experience across end-user and network environments.
• Minimum 8 years configuring, implementing, and maintaining corporate LAN & WAN environments.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Windows (10, 11) in a distributed environment.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (2016-2024) and Office 365, including deployment and administration.
• Proven experience deploying and administering Windows Server (2016-2025).
• Strong knowledge of hardware/software configuration, installation, and lifecycle management.
• Advanced troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills with root cause analysis for complex issues.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to improve IT operations, support, or documentation workflows.
• Strong networking expertise, including switch and router configuration.

Responsibilities

• Training and support of userbase on IT Systems.
• Maintaining mail infrastructure, including antispam/antivirus policy and DNSBL configuration.
• Configuring and administering Fortinet firewall estates (policy configuration, VPN, HA).
• Configuring and maintaining Mikrotik network infrastructure, including routing and inter-site connectivity.
• Wireless network deployment and troubleshooting.
• Providing advanced technical support for desktop and server issues.
• Managing Service Desk ticket queues to meet SLA targets and escalate resolutions.
• Producing technical documentation and knowledge base procedures.
• Identifying opportunities for automation and scripting to reduce manual workload.
• Configuring IP camera/CCTV infrastructure and network integration.
• Daily operational checklists and reporting status to IT Manager.
• Proactive monitoring and capacity/performance management of devices and inter-branch connectivity.
• Root cause analysis on recurring/high-impact incidents with permanent resolutions.
