Placements24 is seeking a Senior IP Network Engineer to join our client in Paarl, Western Cape. You will design, deploy, and optimize complex IP networks that power enterprise services, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience in IP routing, switching, and security, with hands-on expertise in BGP/OSPF/EIGRP, firewalls, and network monitoring tools. You will mentor engineers and lead critical upgrade initiatives in Paarl.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of IP network engineering experience.
• Proficiency in BGP/OSPF/EIGRP and switching.
• Knowledge of firewall technologies and security.
• Experience with monitoring tools and scripting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage enterprise IP networks including routing, switching and firewalls.
• Monitor performance and uptime; implement proactive improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise-level IP networks, including routing, switching, and firewall solutions.

• Develop and maintain network documentation, including configuration standards, network diagrams, and operational procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in IP network engineering, design, and operations.
• Expertise in IP routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and switching technologies (VLANs, STP, LACP).
• Strong knowledge of network security principles, VPNs, firewalls (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto), and access control lists.
• Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG) and packet analysis.
• Proficiency in scripting for network automation (e.g., Python, Ansible) is a strong advantage.
• Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, CCIE, or JNCIP are highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in the Paarl, Western Cape region.
