Our client, a leading provider of ICT services, is looking for a Senior IP Engineer to join their team.
POSITION INFO : Purpose
The Senior IP Engineer is the overall custodian for planning, implementation, configuration and troubleshooting and support of Active Network that will covers all IP Transport requirements for connectivity, L2 / L3 / MPLS / Segment Routing, Fibre Channel Network, interconnects to ISPs and to cover end to end network support on GPON / AE, IP Backhaul and ISP domain (IPT, Peering and Caching).
Overall Responsibilities
- Scope National IP Transport requirements (end-to-end), to include IP / MPLS, Active network, ISPs, Fibre Channel Network, IT, and 3rd parties.
- Conduct high-level IP Transport planning nationally.
- Conduct low-level IP Transport planning nationally.
- Develop methods of procedure for implementation.
- Ensure and oversee implementation.
- Quality acceptance of the project.
- Provides subject matter expertise on technical solutions.
- Manages vendor performances based on contractual obligations.
- Escalating operational issues with vendors and ticket tracking.
- Manages escalation of faults with vendors and informs all stakeholders of status.
- Participates in the development of goals, work plans, timelines, and implementation approaches.
- Onsite support, support and troubleshooting nationally.
- Regional and national escalation of faults.
- Support management team on national planning projects.
Communication
- Engage with internal teams and external vendors to understand and solve network related issues.
- Engage with regional, internal, and external teams including vendors in network related planning and implementation projects.
- Probe to determine the actual nature or underlying cause of technical network problems / issues.
- Explain procedural approaches effectively to relevant parties.
- Produce and maintain fundamental documentation of standards and procedures.
- Provide weekly reports on working equipment and instrumentation.
- Take instructions from own manager.
- Escalate, internally, issues as needed.
Problem Solving
- Investigate and evaluate problem areas and propose possible solutions.
- Escalation to Vendors and management and tracking of complex issues.
- Translate problem findings into Incident reports with solution recommendation.
- Solve standard, albeit more complex, problems independently.
- Plan multiple tasks characterized by short term project timelines and deliverables.
- Provide in-depth expertise, initiative, insight, and interpretation in fault-finding to facilitate faster solutions.
- Understand IP / MPLS and Active network technicalities and performance.
- Understand Fibre Channel Network technicalities and performance.
- Understand ISP domain (including IPT, Peering, Caching and CG-NAT).
- Interpret and provide advice to resolve issues.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) to clear faults and resolve problems encountered.
- Support management team on national planning projects.
Education, Skills & Experience – Subject Matter Expertise
- Strong knowledge of IP / MPLS, Segment routing and Fibre channel networks.
- Thorough understanding of interface specifications and protocols used in the Active Ethernet environment.
- Sound knowledge of regulatory procedures applicable to IP network.
- Advanced knowledge of IP / MPLS networks and TCP / IP.
- Good technical knowledge on Network.
- BTech / bachelor’s degree in IT / Electronics or related Network engineering qualifications.
- Cisco CCDE or CCIE lab.
- Network and design professional certifications.
- Four to five (4-5) years’ experience in the network and telecommunications industry, in a Carrier / Mobile / Enterprise environment.
- Should be able to communicate & collaborate across the Enterprise (Cross functional seamless execution) and developing strong relationships with Internal and External customers.
