Placements24 is seeking a Senior Investment Analyst for its asset management client in Sandton, Gauteng. The role focuses on in-depth research, valuation, and portfolio construction across asset classes, contributing to alpha generation and investment performance.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a quantitative field, 5–7 years of experience, and strong modeling/communication skills. CFA preferred; opportunities for professional growth and exposure to leading investment

Qualifications

Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
CFA designation (or progress towards it) is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in investment analysis, portfolio management, equity research, or a related field.
Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and quantitative analysis.
In-depth knowledge of global financial markets and various asset classes (equities, fixed income, alternatives).
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex investment ideas.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
High ethical standards and a commitment to fiduciary responsibility.
Proficiency in financial databases (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv) and analytical software.
A keen eye for detail and a passion for investment research in the Sandton market.

Responsibilities

Conduct fundamental analysis of companies and industries to identify attractive investment opportunities.
Develop and maintain complex financial models for valuation, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
Formulate investment recommendations and present them to the Investment Committee.
Monitor the performance of existing portfolio holdings, assessing risk and identifying potential adjustments.
Engage with company management teams and industry experts to gather insights.
Contribute to the asset allocation and portfolio construction process.
Stay current with macroeconomic trends, market developments, and regulatory changes affecting investments.
Collaborate with portfolio managers and other analysts to share research and insights.
Ensure investment decisions align with the firm's investment philosophy and client objectives.
Maintain accurate investment records and prepare performance reports.
