About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Insurance Underwriter specializing in Casualty lines to join their team in Kimberley . This critical role involves meticulously assessing complex risks, determining appropriate policy terms, and setting competitive premiums for liability coverage. You will be instrumental in evaluating the financial exposure and potential impact of casualty risks, ensuring the profitability and stability of the company's portfolio. This position offers a significant opportunity for an established underwriter to apply their expertise, influence underwriting strategies, and contribute to the success of our client within the Northern Cape region's insurance market.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage a portfolio of complex casualty insurance risks, including General Liability, Workers' Compensation, and Auto Liability.
• Analyze financial statements, loss history, and operational risks to determine insurability and appropriate pricing.
• Develop and negotiate policy terms, conditions, and exclusions to manage risk exposure effectively.
• Maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents, providing expert underwriting guidance.
• Monitor industry trends, legal developments, and competitor activities within the casualty insurance market.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior underwriters within the team.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in underwriting, with a significant focus on casualty insurance lines.
• In-depth knowledge of liability exposures, risk management principles, and policy wordings.
• Demonstrated ability in analyzing complex risks and making sound underwriting decisions.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with underwriting systems and relevant software applications.
• Relevant insurance designations such as ACII or equivalent are highly preferred.
