Placements24 is seeking a Senior Information Security Analyst to join a remote-first global team. You will safeguard digital assets, develop security strategies, and ensure regulatory compliance while operating in a distributed, home-office environment.

The role focuses on threat detection, incident response, and strengthening the security posture across cloud and on-premise environments. Strong communications and certifications (CISSP/CISM/CEH) are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in information security roles with hands-on threat management.
• Proven experience in risk assessment, vulnerability management and incident response.
• Knowledge of NIST / ISO 27001 and network security principles; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and vulnerability analyses across IT systems and apps.
• Develop, implement and maintain security policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Monitor security alerts and events; perform timely incident response.
• Design and deploy security technologies including firewalls, IDPS and endpoint protection.
• Lead security awareness training and foster a strong security culture.
• Collaborate with IT and development to embed security into SDLC.
• Stay updated on threats and technologies; advise mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (POPIA, GDPR).
• Participate in security audits and penetration testing activities.
• Develop and maintain security documentation and risk mitigation plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain security documentation, including incident reports and risk mitigation plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in information security roles.
• Proven expertise in risk management, vulnerability assessment, and incident response.
• Strong understanding of network security principles, cryptography, and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
• Hands‑on experience with security tools and technologies (SIEM, EDR, firewalls, etc.).
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to think critically under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
• Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
