Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a renowned producer of high-quality goods in the Stellenbosch, Western Cape region, is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Engineer to lead their quality systems and process improvement initiatives. This crucial role will focus on embedding robust quality management principles throughout the organization and driving continuous improvement projects to enhance product consistency, reduce defects, and increase overall operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of quality methodologies, statistical process control (SPC), and Lean Six Sigma principles, combined with strong analytical and leadership skills. You will play a key part in maintaining and elevating our client's reputation for excellence. This position is critical for ensuring sustained high standards in our manufacturing operations in the beautiful Stellenbosch area.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001). Lead and facilitate Lean Six Sigma projects aimed at reducing defects, waste, and variability in production processes. Implement and manage Statistical Process Control (SPC) programs to monitor and control process performance. Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Analyze production data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern. Develop and deliver training programs on quality standards, tools, and methodologies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, R&D, and supply chain, to ensure quality is integrated at all stages. Perform internal audits and support external audits to ensure compliance with quality standards. Champion a culture of continuous improvement and quality awareness throughout the organization. Mentor junior engineers and quality assurance personnel.

Requirements

Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with a strong emphasis on quality systems and process improvement. Expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Black Belt certification highly preferred). Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Minitab) and SPC tools. Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, etc.) and audit procedures. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills. Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor and influence teams. Exceptional communication and presentation skills. Experience in the relevant industry sector is a significant advantage. Must be authorized to work in South Africa and based in or willing to relocate to Stellenbosch, Western Cape.
