Job Description
  • To pro-actively maximize mine hoist operation whilst ensuring the safety of the personnel utilizing and maintaining the winder and chairlifts.
  • To assist and manage winder engineering teams during breakdowns and their daily duties.

1.Safety:

  • Maintain and ensures that all technical Safety Standards are adhered to, promoted and updated, to protect all the personnel and machinery, who make use of the winder and chairlifts
  • Gives instructions with regards to the safety operation of all winders and chairlifts
  • Develops new and updates safety techniques

2.Operations:

  • Overseeing the maintenance of all machinery in the winder and chairlift room as far as electricals and mechanicals are concerned
  • Carries out statutory winder examinations as per C2 (dynamic brake test) directive on winding plants.
  • Extensive knowledge of basic electrical and electronic control circuits, hydraulics, mechanics and advice as to the solution of problems
  • Understand and advise on all schematics and diagrams pertaining to winders and their various design requirements on new installations and improving old installations
  • Performs standby duties to ensure maximum up-time of the winders and chairlifts
  • Ensures no unauthorized modifications are carried out without the necessary permission

3. Administration

  • Completes 6 monthly dynamic brake test reports
  • Expediting and monitoring of group spares purchases and repairs
  • Compiling and completing level 1 audits for winders and chairlifts
  • Ensures that ordering and purchasing of equipment and material is carried out to the correct specification
  • Ensures strict control on all orders and spares by keeping effective and efficient records

4. Computer Literacy

  • Extensive knowledge of PLC and programming.
  • Data acquisition from analogue to data information
  • Compiling of drawings by use of AutoCAD
  • Updating and standardization of winder and chairlift electrical and hydraulic drawings
  • Control of any modifications to winder and chairlift drawings

5. Training:

  • Continuous updating on usage and maintenance, of new control units to related engineering personnel and oneself
  • Gives training to relevant engineering personnel in the safe operation, fault finding of winders and chairlifts

6. Consultation:

  • Assist the engineers and foremen in the setting of priorities with regards to the repairs of the winders and chairlifts. Assist the engineers, foremen electricians and fitters with maintenance problems
  • Assist and advise the W.E.D. with the control of the winders
  • Assist with installations of new winder and chairlift equipment
  • Responsible for dynamic brake testing, its necessary adjustments and 6 monthly audits on the winder operations
  • Ensure safety quality operation for the safe usage of the winder and chairlifts by all personnel
Qualifications
  • Electrical Trade with MV certification
  • N6 will be an advantage

Experience:

  • 2 Years’ Experience as Hoist Technician
  • 4 Years experience as a winder electrician

Technical knowledge (experience) required for role:

  • Knowledge in Electrical, Power Electronics, Hydraulics and Mechanics
  • 08 Drivers license
