Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Inverness Older Adult Community Mental Health Team (OACMHT) as a Band 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker (SHCSW).

Based at New Craig’s Hospital and covering the Inverness/Inverness-shire area, the post plays a vital role in delivering specialist community mental health care to older adults with functional or organic mental illness.

Responsibilities
  • Working within agreed care plans set by Band 5/6 CMHN’s, you will promote self-management and recovery, provide 1:1 support, reduce relapse risk, and offer meaningful carer support.
  • Key responsibilities include applying best practices in dementia care and supporting individuals displaying stressed or distressed behaviours across a variety of settings: patients’ homes, group environments, and in wider health and social care facilities.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Previous experience in older adults' mental health and/or dementia care in the community is preferred, though candidates with relevant transferable skills and evidence of professional development will also be considered and would receive additional training.
  • A positive attitude, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently and flexibly within a multidisciplinary team are essential.
  • Please note: A full driving licence and access to a car are required for this role.
