Placements24 seeks a Senior Process Metallurgist for our mining client in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. The role focuses on optimizing gold processing circuits, improving recovery, and reducing costs. You will lead improvements across leaching, CIL/CIP, and refining while ensuring safety and compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering with 7+ years of gold processing experience, strong data analysis skills, and a collaborative leadership style to mentor

Qualifications

• Degree in metallurgy or chemical engineering required; 7+ years in metallurgical processing for gold.
• Strong knowledge of cyanidation, CIL/CIP, and activated carbon technology.
• Experience with data analysis, process optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and lead junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize gold processing circuits (crushing, grinding, CIL/CIP, leaching, refining).
• Conduct metallurgical test work, analyze results, and propose improvements.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and maximize recovery.
• Monitor performance via grade, recovery, reagent use; report findings.
• Mentor junior metallurgists and technicians; support safety and compliance.
