Job Purpose
Capturing and maintaining a fully connected high, medium and low voltage electrical network and communication network, in a Geographic Information System (GIS), and dissemination of the electrical network and associated attribute data.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Capturing and maintaining a spatial representation of eThekwini Electricity (EE) assets and equipment in the Enterprise GIS.
- Utilising mapping techniques to maintain a fully connected geometric network of the EE network reticulation infrastructure, in an electric specific enterprise domain geodatabase.
- Providing technical information and copies of records to assist when equipment failures or when faults occur in the network.
- Importing surveyed infrastructure data into the GIS to enhance the spatial accuracy of the electrical data and support structures.
- Addressing all internal and external customer queries on the electrical network infrastructure.
- Liaising with depot Superintendents, Clerk of Works, Planning Engineers, Network Control Technicians and Electricians at the works branches to verify the correctness of the assets and connectivity in the GIS.
- Analysing various GIS datasets to identify inconsistencies in the connected network reticulation dataset.
- Assisting with the maintenance of the system stored templates and providing input for data model changes in GIS.
- Providing input for the creation and maintenance of the Branches Standard Operating Procedures and training manuals.
- Conducting research into the location and GIS attribute data of overhead, underground and substation infrastructure, when there are data discrepancies.
