About the Role

A highly reputable engineering consultancy based in the scenic town of Stellenbosch, Western Cape , is seeking an accomplished Senior Geotechnical Engineer . This critical role involves managing and delivering complex geotechnical investigations and designs for a variety of infrastructure projects, including commercial developments, residential estates, and public works. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design, and ground improvement techniques, coupled with strong project management capabilities. This position requires a hands-on approach with regular site presence and client interaction, making it a non-remote role.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical site investigations, including planning, execution, and supervision of drilling and in-situ testing programs.
• Perform advanced geotechnical analyses for foundation design (shallow and deep), slope stability, and earth retaining structures.
• Develop comprehensive geotechnical design reports, providing clear and practical recommendations.
• Utilize specialized geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio) for complex modeling.
• Provide expert technical guidance and support to project teams and clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong portfolio of diverse projects.
• Proven expertise in geotechnical modeling software (PLAXIS, GeoStudio, etc.).
• Thorough understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
• Experience in managing projects and client relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate a technical team.
• Valid driver's license and readiness to travel to project sites within the Western Cape.
