The candidate will mentor junior geologists, develop geological models, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to drive exploration success. Travel to remote sites is possible as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires B.Sc. Hons or M.Sc. in Geology or related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive mineral exploration geology experience.
• Strong field geology skills including mapping and structural analysis.
• Proficiency in core logging, sampling, and geochemical interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and execute geological exploration programs, including field mapping, sampling, and drilling campaigns.
• Conduct detailed geological logging of drill core and rock samples.

About the Role

Our client, a major mining and resource exploration company, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geologist to join their operations near Soweto , Gauteng. This role is critical for identifying, evaluating, and advancing potential mineral resource projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in exploration geology, including geological mapping, core logging, geochemical analysis, and resource estimation. You will be responsible for planning and executing exploration programs, interpreting geological data, and contributing to strategic resource development decisions. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Proficiency in core logging, sample selection, and geochemical interpretation.
• Experience with geological modeling and resource estimation software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise technical reports.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to travel to remote exploration sites as required.
• Professional registration with a relevant geological body is an advantage.
