Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Geohydrologist to join a leading environmental consultancy in Mahikeng, North West. You will manage complex geohydrological investigations, groundwater resource assessments, and develop sustainable water management strategies.

The role requires a Master's in Hydrogeology, 7+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency with MODFLOW/FEFLOW. You will advise clients on groundwater supply, contamination remediation, and environmental impact assessments

Qualifications

• Master's degree in hydrogeology or related Earth Science is required.
• 7+ years of professional geohydrology experience in groundwater management.
• Experience with groundwater modeling software (MODFLOW/FEFLOW/Groundwater Vistas).
• Strong knowledge of hydrogeology, aquifer characterization and water quality.
• Experience with environmental impact assessments related to groundwater resources.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
• Pr.Sci.Nat registration is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise geohydrological investigations, including drilling, aquifer testing, and groundwater monitoring.
• Develop and calibrate groundwater flow and solute transport models using industry-standard software.
• Conduct comprehensive groundwater resource assessments, including yield analyses and sustainability evaluations.
• Assess groundwater contamination sources, fate, transport, and develop remediation strategies.
• Prepare detailed geohydrological reports, technical memos, and presentations for clients and regulatory agencies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant water resource management legislation and policies in South Africa.
• Provide expert advice on groundwater development, management, and protection.
• Collaborate with other environmental disciplines to integrate groundwater assessments into larger projects.

• Experience in environmental impact assessments related to groundwater resources.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Registered Professional Scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat) in Earth Science or a related field is highly desirable.
• Experience with water resource planning and policy development is an advantage.
