Placements24 seeks a Senior Genomics Scientist in Stellenbosch to design, execute and analyze complex genomic experiments, uncovering genetic factors of diseases and traits, and translating insights into actionable health impacts.

You will manage projects, interpret large-scale data, mentor junior scientists, and collaborate with clinicians, biologists and data scientists in a dynamic, cutting-edge genomics environment. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Qualifications

• PhD in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years post-PhD or industry experience in genomics.
• Hands-on experience with NGS platforms and library prep methods.
• Proficiency in Python and R for genomic data analysis.
• Strong statistics and population genetics knowledge.
• Experience with large data management and visualization.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement genomic experiments (WGS, exome, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq).
• Analyze genomic data using bioinformatics tools and statistics.
• Develop and validate new genomic assays and pipelines.
• Collaborate with clinicians, biologists and data scientists to interpret findings.
• Contribute to proposals, grants and peer-reviewed publications.
• Present results at internal meetings and conferences.
