Placements24 is working with a Queenstown-based game studio seeking a Senior Game Programmer for a fully remote role. You will architect and optimize core engine systems, focusing on rendering, physics, AI, and memory management, in collaboration with designers, artists, and other engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in game development, with a significant focus on engine programming.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and experience with Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Deep understanding of graphics, algorithms, and data structures.
• Experience with multi-threaded programming and performance optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and remotely.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize core game engine systems, including rendering, physics, AI, and memory management.
• Develop and maintain robust, high-performance code using C++ and other relevant programming languages.
• Collaborate closely with other engineers, designers, and artists to define and implement game features and mechanics.
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues and performance bottlenecks within the game engine.
• Contribute to the overall technical direction and architecture of the game engine.
• Mentor junior programmers and contribute to best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation.
