Job summary

Apex Group Ltd (UK Branch) in Johannesburg is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to take responsibility for accurate portfolio valuations and NAVs, overseeing several client portfolios.

You will mentor junior staff, liaise with fund managers and custodians, ensure regulatory and statutory reporting deadlines, and support external audits. A Commerce degree with CA(SA) eligibility and strong Excel skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Commerce degree with CA(SA) eligibility; no post article experience required.
• Proficient in MS Excel.
• Structural and detail orientated.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to prioritise work and meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication and organisation skills.
• Motivated and driven.
• Fund related accounting experience will be an advantage.
• Private Debt, Capital Markets, Real Assets or Private Equity Knowledge will be a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities

• Planning, coordination and completion of NAVs, Management Reporting and Statutory Reporting to meet accounting and regulatory obligations.
• Assist with supervision and mentoring of trainee fund accountants and fund accountants.
• Liaising with fund managers, brokers and custodians to resolve issues timely.
• Ensure client responsibilities are met to deadlines and best practice.
• Assist external auditors to ensure timely and efficient audits.
• Perform additional responsibilities for ongoing development of the division.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual NAVs.
• Prepare management accounts and IPDs.
• Prepare annual statutory financial statements.
