Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, offering a hybrid work arrangement. You will develop scalable web apps using Java on the backend and React on the frontend, participating in the full SDLC from concept to deployment.

You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to architecture, and work in a collaborative agile environment with a focus on clean, efficient code and delivering high-impact projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Extensive experience with JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and React.
• Experience with RESTful API design and development.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Understanding of Git and modern cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using Java and React.
• Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into solutions.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and knowledge sharing.
• Develop unit and integration tests to ensure reliability.
• Troubleshoot defects and production issues promptly.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote learning.
