Job summary

Old Mutual Limited in Johannesburg is looking for a Senior Software Engineer-2 to design, code, develop, test and implement integration and supporting application development components and systems. You will perform business and software analysis, coordinate projects, and participate in system maintenance activities.

The role requires 5+ years of Full-Stack experience, strong frontend skills (HTML/CSS/JavaScript with React/Angular/Vue), and proficiency in JavaScript, Python or Ruby, plus cloud

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of Full-Stack software engineering experience delivering complex projects.
• Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript with modern frameworks (React, Angular, Vue).
• Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, or Ruby and web frameworks.
• Strong database design, optimization, and complex queries.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and microservices.
• Previous leadership or mentorship experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop existing applications and contribute to the development of new applications by analyzing requirements and making improvements.
• Monitor, identify, and fix more complex software defects to maintain quality.
• Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products/services.
• Recommend technical developments to improve website/portal/applications software and infrastructure.
• Contribute to and maintain a roadmap to prioritize development work.
