About the Role

Our client, a key player in the telecommunications infrastructure sector, is seeking a highly competent Senior Fixed Network Planning Engineer to join their dedicated team in East London. This role is critical for the strategic planning and design of our client's fixed network infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper networks, ensuring capacity, reliability, and scalability to meet growing customer demand. You will be responsible for developing network expansion plans, assessing new technologies, and collaborating with deployment teams to ensure efficient implementation. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical knowledge of fixed network technologies, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record in network planning. Key Responsibilities

• Develop long-term and short-term strategic plans for the expansion and upgrade of the fixed network infrastructure.
• Design network architectures for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), fiber-to-the-business (FTTB), and copper-based services.
• Conduct capacity planning studies and forecasting to ensure sufficient network resources to meet projected demand.
• Evaluate new technologies and equipment for potential integration into the network.
• Prepare detailed network designs, Bill of Materials (BOM), and project cost estimates.
• Collaborate with field operations, construction, and provisioning teams to ensure seamless network deployment.
• Analyze network performance data and identify areas for improvement and optimization.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in network design.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, including topology maps and equipment inventories.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior planning engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in fixed network planning and design.
• In-depth knowledge of optical network technologies (e.g., GPON, DWDM, FTTx), copper technologies, and associated infrastructure.
• Proficiency with network planning tools and CAD software for network design.
• Strong understanding of IP networking principles and protocols relevant to fixed access networks.
• Experience with project management methodologies and cost analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to East London for this on-site role.
