About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Financial Risk Manager to join their established team in Stellenbosch . This critical role involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks across the organization, ensuring robust risk management frameworks are in place within the Banking & Finance sector. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of market risk, credit risk, operational risk, and regulatory requirements. This hybrid position offers a significant opportunity to influence the company's risk appetite and strategies, contributing to its stability and long-term success. You will lead initiatives aimed at strengthening the firm's risk posture.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive risk management frameworks and policies.
• Conduct risk assessments, stress testing, and scenario analysis to identify potential vulnerabilities.
• Monitor and report on key risk indicators (KRIs) and exposure levels to senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Advise on risk implications of new products, strategies, and business initiatives.
• Oversee the implementation of risk mitigation strategies and controls.
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and industry best practices related to risk management.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field; FRM or PRM certification is highly desirable.
• 8+ years of experience in financial risk management within the banking or financial services industry.
• Expertise in credit risk, market risk, operational risk, and liquidity risk.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks such as Basel III/IV.
• Proficiency in risk modeling software and data analysis tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
