About the Role

Our client, a significant player in the regional banking landscape, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Financial Risk Manager to oversee risk operations from their Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal office. This crucial role involves identifying, assessing, and managing the financial risks faced by the organization, including credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and operational risk. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures to safeguard the company's assets and ensure regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of financial markets, and leadership experience in risk management functions within the banking sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive financial risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of credit, market, liquidity, and operational risks across the organization.
• Develop and utilize risk models and metrics to quantify potential financial exposures and their impact.
• Monitor market conditions and economic trends for potential risks to the company's financial health.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• A professional risk management certification (e.g., FRM, PRM) is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in financial risk management within the banking or financial services industry.
• Proven expertise in credit risk assessment, market risk analysis, liquidity management, and operational risk mitigation.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements in the South African banking sector.
