Qualifications

Our client, a leading global Private Equity Investment Advisory firm invested in sustainable infrastructure and climate finance across Africa, is currently seeking a hands-on, innovative, strategically minded, and highly organized Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to support the financial operations and reporting requirements of their expanding portfolio.

You should have excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, along with natural leadership skills and the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

You are especially passionate about improving universal energy access, particularly across Sub-Saharan Africa, through investments in decentralized renewable energy (DRE).

Main Purpose of the Role :

Provide dedicated financial leadership to ensure robust compliance, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency by overseeing financial reporting controls, legal and tax compliance within the Mauritian financial services framework, while supporting the financial performance of the group and its funds under management.

The role involves direct engagement with investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies, as well as providing strategic financial leadership across the funds portfolio.

Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Assist with all aspects of financial reporting, control, and tax compliance.
  • Prepare and review annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Prepare and/or review quarterly management accounts for group companies.
  • Prepare and/or review deliverables for quarterly investor reporting and respond to investor queries.
  • Manage audit processes for various entities within deadlines, including fund entities.
  • Ensure compliance with legal agreements (LPA, side letters, advisory agreements) and Mauritian regulations (FSC, Securities Act, Financial Services Act).
  • Manage fund accounting, including capital calls, distributions, performance reporting, and NAV calculations.
  • Oversee tax and regulatory compliance across entities and jurisdictions.
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity, including treasury functions.
  • Collaborate with professional service providers such as administrators, auditors, and legal/tax advisors.
  • Oversee financial reporting and controls for regional offices in South Africa, Nairobi, Abidjan, and Mauritius.
  • Facilitate financial information flow at portfolio company level.
  • Support deal structuring, tax efficiency, legal compliance, treasury, and valuation activities.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to team members.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience :

  • Chartered Accountant (SA) or equivalent (FCCA, CPA, ICAEW).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in fund management, fund accounting, or asset management, preferably within private equity.
  • At least 3 years in a senior finance or fund accounting role.
  • Expertise in financial control, fund accounting, and asset management within private equity.
  • Strong understanding of Mauritian regulatory environment (FSC, Bank of Mauritius, MRA) is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with fund administration and Technical Assistance Facilities is beneficial.

Skills :

  • Advanced proficiency in financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, and fund performance analysis.
  • Deep knowledge of fund structures, capital calls, distributions, and investor reporting.
  • Proficiency with financial systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Excel, Investran).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with high attention to detail.

Travel :

  • Willingness to travel to regional offices as required.
