A diversified organisation in Durban seeks a Senior Finance Officer to oversee financial operations, lead a junior manager, and support budgeting and forecasting. Candidates should have tertiary qualifications in Finance or Accounting, with 3 years’ experience in the FMCG or Retail industry, strong reporting and compliance knowledge, and excellent Excel skills. Qualifications

Overview

A diversified, fast-growing organisation is seeking a Senior Finance Officer to serve as the pivotal link between the Senior Financial Manager and a Junior Financial Manager. This opportunity combines hands-on financial management, team leadership, and strategic business support in a results-driven corporate environment.


Responsibilities


  • Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations with precision and compliance in a timely manner.

  • Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and develop the Junior Financial Manager to enhance team capability.

  • Strategic Support: Partner with the Senior Financial Manager on budgeting, forecasting, and planning.

  • Reporting & Analysis: Deliver accurate management accounts, Board packs, and performance insights.

  • Controls & Compliance: Strengthen internal controls, ensure governance, and maintain audit readiness.

  • Process Optimisation: Drive efficiencies in financial systems, processes, and reporting frameworks.


Qualifications & Skills


  • Tertiary education in Finance or Accounting

  • SAICA / ACCA / CIMA / SAIPA advantageous

  • 3 years' experience in a FMCG or Retail industry

  • Group reporting experience

  • Strong technical knowledge in reporting, controls, and compliance

  • Advanced Excel proficiency and exposure to ERP systems

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage with stakeholders
