Job description

Phakisa Holdings is currently seeking a Senior Financial Accountant in the Sandton area. Provide continuous input into financial and business decision-making at tactical / operational level, completion of financial accounting reports including the day-to-day execution of financial related activities, as well as ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting on a monthly basis.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for F3 activities to assist in the transition from HFM to Onestream reporting.
  2. Participate in process and system enhancements (including Power BI and Onestream) and assist in the creation of new financial policy and procedures.
  3. Ensure accuracy of GL account mapping used in the various financial reporting systems.
  4. Plan, monitor and co-ordinate the Business Unit Statutory Reporting process for year end and half year end compilation and preparation of the stand-alone Business Unit Annual Financial statements.
  5. Conduct research and assist with accounting and disclosure issues.
  6. Support or prepare, where required, statutory returns to appropriate authorities.
  7. Assist with position papers on accounting treatments to Reporting Practices Committee.
  8. Provide financial information to External & Internal auditors.
  9. Serve as the interface between the Energy financial reporting and management accounting teams.
  10. Prepare the Business unit reporting pack.
  11. For half year and year end, assist with all statutory reporting deliverables, i.e., responding on queries, managing of overs and unders, annexures sign-offs & analytical reviews.
  12. Responsible for month end reporting into the applicable financial reporting tool (HFM / Onestream).
  13. Assist with compilation of the budget & Forecast balance sheet and cash flow requirements and capture budgets and forecasts (both IS & BS) in the applicable financial reporting tool (HFM / Onestream).
  14. Provide financial information for reporting to the Board / Opscom, if applicable, and for Business Unit reporting.
  15. Assist with Adhoc requests during month end, forecast and budget periods.
  16. Comply with requirements in terms of controls over financial reporting, perform monthly SOX controls and perform SOX testing during testing cycles for GL.
  17. Preparation of tax returns in conjunction with Group Tax Services.
  18. At year end and half year end, assist Tax with information to support accurate income and deferred tax calculations.
  19. Assist with tax and deferred tax accounting / disclosure in BU with support from BU Tax advisor.
  20. Manage and develop direct reports.
  21. Ensure accurate and timely results are delivered through direct reports.
  22. Identify, contribute and support succession planning and career growth.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  1. Grade 12
  2. University Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  3. 6+ relevant years
  4. Proven technical financial reporting skills.
  5. Working knowledge of SAP
  6. Current knowledge of IFRS, relevant Companies Act and Tax knowledge.
