Job summary

Collinson Group in Cape Town seeks an experienced Financial Accountant to manage journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting for multiple entities, ensuring accurate financial records in line with group standards.

The role requires 5+ years of accounting experience post articles, strong Excel and ERP skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Preference for multi-currency exposure and external audit collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of financial accounting experience post articles completion.
• MS Office competency (Outlook / Teams and Excel).
• Proficiency in using financial reporting tools and software (e.g. Excel, ERP systems).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and industry best practices.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with strong organisational skills, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post approved journal entries, based on journal policies to record various financial transactions in accordance with the established operating procedures.
• Maintain a master list of monthly journal entries.
• Record supporting information for all journal entries
• Ensure that reversing entries occur and supporting information is recorded for all journal entries
• Create recurring journal entry templates and ensure that recurring entries are changed or terminated at appropriate trigger points
• Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations
• Run procedures to close general ledger and subledgers as part of the period end process
• Provide audit support specific to general accounting
• Overseeing the day-to-day activities and supporting training of Assistant Financial Accountants and Financial Assistants
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders Knowledge, skills and experience required
